March Old School Blogging - RaNdoM!!

March Old School Blogging is full of fun and completely random questions!  Check out my answers and, then, feel free to copy the questions and write a post including your own answers to the questions.  Be sure you head over to visit the host of Old School Blogging, Elaine, at The Miss Elaine-ous Life and/or this month's co-host, Kim, at Co-Pilot Mom!

What is the last thing you watched on TV?
Last night (I wrote this on Friday, 3/14/14), my hubby was watching a movie called Now You See Me.  It's about four magicians who use their magic and magic shows to steal money.  One of the magicians is played by Woddy Harrleson and Mark Ruffalo plays a detective trying to catch them.  Morgan Freeman also stars in the movie that has a surprise twist at the end!

When did you last step outside?  What were you doing?
Just a couple hours ago (Friday, around noon) to see why my dog was barking!

What is on the walls of the room you are in right now?
I'm in my office.  On my right is a calendar with mages from Paris that my mom gave me for Christmas.  My hubby and I went to Paris in December 2012 and I loved it!
You will notice there are no appointments, etc. written on this calendar.  That's because all that stuff is on the other wall.  When this room was my husband's office, he created a giant whiteboard with some special paint.  Now, it's mine and I love it!  It helps me keep track of all the events of the week and all my blogging stuff!

If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy?
First, I would pay of our house and put money away for my three daughters' college educations and weddings.  After that, I would spend a good chunk on some home renovations.

Tell me something about you that most people don’t know.
Michelle asked me this last week for Ask Away Friday and I had a hard time coming up with an answer!  Aside from what I told her, I was voted "Most Dependable" in both 8th grade and 12th grade.  I guess I'm nothing if not consistent - and dependable!

Who made the last incoming call on your phone?
On the home phone was our pest control company to schedule our quarterly service.  (Exciting, huh?)  On my cell phone, was the representative for the yearbook company my daughters' elementary school uses.  I am the yearbook coordinator and I had called to ask her a question, so she called me back.

If you could change something about your home, without worry about expense or mess, what would you do?
Either our master bath or the kitchen.  The master bath is tight and needs some repairs anyway.  The kitchen has wonderful countertops and appliances, but the layout is a little awkward and it's a bit small.

What was the last thing you bought?
A grande caramel macchiato at Starbucks!

Would you go bungee jumping or sky diving?
NEVER!  I don't like heights or anything dangerous.

If you could eat lunch with one famous person, who would it be?
I honestly have absolutely no idea!  Maybe Ree Drummond because she should cook me something yummy and tell me how to become a multi-millionaire from blogging!

Which store would you choose to max out your credit card?
White House Black Market.  I love their clothes, but they are pricey.  (Last time I went in there, my fashion conscious six year old said she wished they had a kids' version of that store!)

Is the glass half empty or half full?
Most of the time, half-full.  I won't lie, though.  I've been a bit stressed lately and have probably had more of a half-empty attitude.

What’s the farthest-away place you’ve been?
Paris.  It's the only time I have been outside the US.  As I mentioned, I went with my hubby in December 2012.  He had to go for a business trip and it coincided with our anniversary, so I went, too!
At the base of the Eiffel Tower

The Arc de Triomphe

Me on top of the Arc with a death grip on the "so you don't fall off and die" safety bars

Notre Dame - so amazing.

Locks on a bridge near Notre Dame

What’s under your bed?
Dust and probably a couple lost socks waiting to be found!

What is your favorite time of day?
Some days, after the rush of the morning, once everyone is off to school, I get to come back home and spend some quality time with the internet.  I read blogs, write blog posts, and try to schedule social media posts.  Some (like my family) find it a bit strange that such things soothe me - but if you are a blogger reading this, you understand.

Other days, when I haven't gotten that "down time," it's the evenings.  Once dinner is cleaned up and homework is finished.  The kids are in the next room quiet and/or laughing.  Hubby is home and all is calm.

I also wrote this post about how I love looking in on my sleeping children one last time before I go to bed.

What Inspires You?
Music inspires me.  I am not musically talented, but I wish I was.  I love the feelings music can evoke.  I am also inspired by other bloggers.  I am continually amazed by the quality and creativity of the blogs I read.

Don’t forget to tweet your post to @elainea and @copilotmom with the hashtag #OSBlog!

I like the sound of your favourite times of the day, Lisa. That question made me think because there are truly a few times of the day I really like - and it does depend on the day, too.
I would love to go to Paris one day! It looks amazing. :)

I TOTALLY get you about your favorite time of day. Although this week it's been really screwy with the kids being sick. Usually I cherish that morning time to myself. Ah, next week.
I love that you're dependable. I promise to be dependable when we meet (yay!) in June! I can always be a designated driver. Kinda the story of my life.

I couldn't just pick one time. Paris was amazing and I want to go back! :-)

Lisa @ The Golden Spoons said...

Mine too!! Except I'm terrible with directions. I am so excite that you bought the ticket and I'll get to meet you and hang out in person!

I enjoy my morning down time on the computer, too. The days that I have to rush into the day seem a little off!

Seriously--I would spend my million and the exact same list of things in that exact order.

Lisa @ The Golden Spoons said...

Thanks! Paris was wonderful, but it definitely made me want to travel more.

Lisa @ The Golden Spoons said...

Yes! I need some solitude to collect my thoughts.

Lisa @ The Golden Spoons said...

Great minds think alike!

Lisa @ The Golden Spoons said...

Definitely Yay Paris! I really gotta have that downtime & solitude to re-charge. If not, look out!

My husband and I watched "Now You See Me" a few weeks back, and I loved the twist ending.
PS. I simply love that you were voted "most dependable," Lisa. It speaks of your steady, consistent character, which is such a valuable asset!

And this is what I am afraid of as my girls get older and mentioned it at the end of my own post. We already have homework in pre-school. Granted it is easy, but I know it will get harder and as much as I was always good in school, not sure I am ready for hours of it with my girls. So, I am truly with you on this and I too never thought when I finished college that I would have more homework to do in the form of my kids either!

Lisa @ The Golden Spoons said...

Yep! Even if the homework isn't hard, nobody (including me) want to spend our afternoon doing it!

Oh I don't miss those homework nights. It was just so special when my eldest entered French Immersion in grade 6. I had taken French in school but it was a long time ago. Together we learned the various verbs - I had to explain conjugation etc. It was a difficult first few weeks but then she took off and left me in the dust. Oui, c'est dommage.

UGH to "our" homework! Of course it involves filling out school forms, booking appointments, dishwasher stuff, (for us, therapy for our son's language), and so much more but UGH like you said, God forbid we have a teeny tiny bit of IRL work stuff to do, like answer an email (or 17) for our part time jobs. I feel ya, here, Lisa!

Lisa @ The Golden Spoons said...

Too bad my kids don't take blogging classes - THEN I could help them! :-)

Lisa @ The Golden Spoons said...

Thanks Kristi!

Lisa @ The Golden Spoons said...

Thank you Robin! As a kid, "dependable" meant "boring" to me. Now, as an adult, I realize there are more important things than "most athletic"or "class clown."

Your middle girl sounds like me! I was the most energetic procrastinator on earth..but I did always get it done. Always. To this day, I always hit my (self-imposed and otherwise) deadlines.

Lisa @ The Golden Spoons said...

Good for you! I am just the opposite - always planning, scheduling, etc. Last minute stresses me out! :-)

I hate homework. And I don't mean hate like I hate to clean the bathroom. Like hate in the manner that I would rather give birth without pain meds to a 100lb gorilla than do homework with my 4th grader. The saddest part is I had to google how to do the freaking Every Day Math!!! Some nights I swear if I knew kids came with home work I would have rethought the whole procreation thing.

Echo (The Mad Mommy) said...

Oh man, I feel you on homework! Homeschool, public school, stay at home mom, working mom, we all deal with it and I agree. It sucks!

Jennifer Steck said...

We never realized that homework was a lifelong pursuit, did we? I forgot how much time I spend with my son on his homework when he was little. I can't imagine multiplying that work by three. :)

April @ 100lbcountdown said...

I tell my son that his homework is not my responsibility. I've taken and graduated 20 grades (college and law school). I'm willing to help where necessary, but I am not there to do it with him or for him. It's only taken until this year for him to "get" it, but he FINALLY will finish his homework in a reasonable time. Unfortunately, because I'm not sure the school has time, I review EVERY homework assignment to make sure he understood it. Otherwise, we have to put in some extra time. Thankfully we're near family, in which my in-laws are teachers, so I (eh-hem) "let" them do some of it.

Lisa @ The Golden Spoons said...

Yep! They do everything differently now, so even when I do help them, they often tell me "That's not the way the teacher showed us to do it!" It's maddening!

Lisa @ The Golden Spoons said...

Yes we do and yes it does!

Lisa @ The Golden Spoons said...

Definitely a lifelong thing!

Lisa @ The Golden Spoons said...

I know what you mean. My third grader was supposed to write sentence with her spelling words, but her sentences didn't make any sense because she didn't know what many of the words meant even though she knew how to spell them. We had to sit down an discuss what all of them meant. It was really ridiculous.

MamaRabia said...

This looks like fun! And with the mess I had at work this past week, this would be a perfect post for Monday. I've been overwhelmed and I hate feeling behind on all my blog stuff. I'm hoping to get caught up (and maybe even ahead) this weekend.

MamaRabia said...

I am so glad that my kids do their homework at their after-school program! The teachers there are all certified teaches, so I know they are getting the right kind of help with it. We don't get home until 5:30ish in the evenings, so there would never be time for homework if they didn't do it at their after-school program!

Sarah @ LeftBrainBuddha said...

So far, my daughter has been pretty good about homework, but I'm sure the battles will ensue later. And a mother's homework is truly never done….

Lisa @ The Golden Spoons said...

That would be awesome!

Lisa @ The Golden Spoons said...

Never! :-)

Lisa @ The Golden Spoons said...

Same here! I feel like I've been behind on everything. I got a little bit ahead last Friday (March 14), but this week I have just fallen behind again! This one was fun and easy! :-)

Dana said...

Oh, I can totally relate, Lisa. Homework is the bane of my existence. It's only gotten worse as the kids have gotten older. I just pray there is no homework over spring break!

Lisa @ The Golden Spoons said...

No! Don't tel me that! Last night my oldest stayed up an hour past her bedtime studying for a test and tonight my youngest pitched a fit about her homework. Oy!
