Inside My Closet {#TuesdayTen Linkup}

We're friends, right?  That means I can be completely honest, doesn't it???

A week ago, I was really excited about today's Tuesday Ten topic and had full intentions of vlogging it for you.

Then, life happened including back to school shopping and three - yep, THREE - birthdays (My husband's, my oldest daughter's and my youngest daughter's.)  Plus, the past three days have been rainy, gloomy, and unusually cool which has, apparently, zapped my motivation completely.

I actually attempted a vlog this morning, but it was too dark, I looked terrible, and it was awful.

And, one more truth - my closet is a mess!!  I usually do a much better of keeping things organized and tidy - at least I try.  It's summer, though.  Kids are home and time for organizing closets is hard to find.

All that being said, the best I could come up with today is an actual, boring list of the things that are in my closet.

I m VERY fortunate to have a large walk-in closet all to myself.  Well, kind of.  We actually have another walk-n closet off the master where my husband keeps his clothes.  My closet, of course, houses my clothes and shoes.  However, since it's so large, it also ends up being a storage area for lots of other things.

  1. Gift bags and wrapping - I have a plastic bin that is currently overflowing with gift bags, tissue paper, wrapping, and bows.
  2. Tote bags - O.K. I kind of have a thing for bags.  Aside from the gift bags, I have another plastic bin that is also overflowing with tote bags, reusable shopping bags, and various other shopping bags.
  3. Purses - Yep - more bags!
  4. Suitcases - There are three suitcases in my closet: mine, my hubby's, and an old one that is acatually broken and needs to be thrown out. :-(
  5. Sheets - We don't have space in a linen closet for the sheets that go on our bed, so they ended up in my closet.
  6. Pillows - I don't know what we have so many pillows or why they have ended up in my closet!
  7. Baby Books - Yes, I did old school baby books for each of my girls and they are currently collecting dust on the top shelf in my closet.
  8. The Big Blue Bucket - Sometimes, it's empty.  Other times, it make a great hiding place for gifts.  (Shhhhh! Don't tell!)
  9. Old Cameras - My hubby used to be a bit of a photography buff when I first met him.  Over the years, that hobby has faded away, but we still have his old camera that actually takes film and is not digital in any way.  Plus, we have the first video camera we ever owned - the one we bought to film my oldest daughter when she was an infant  12 years ago!
  10. Toilet Paper - With a house full of girls, we buy toilet paper in bulk and the "extra" gets stored in my closet.
**Bonus - No less than 6 old bridesmaids dresses.  A couple are approaching or have already surpassed 15 years old.  Why do I still have them?!?!?1  Why!?!?!?!?

I did manage to muster up this very brief closet tour for your viewing pleasure!  Enjoy!

I'm jealous of your walk in closet status! We live in an old Victorian home that has tiny closets! If I had a walk in closet, I'm pretty sure I'd live in there and NEVER come out! In some ways, it is great having small closets, it really forces us to use keep just the things we need. I have a few tote bags, but I don't have any space for a tote of tote bags! (although that would be super cool).

Yes, I am really glad that we have such amazing storage space inout house. It does make it a little too easy to just toss things in, though. then, they pile up and I start wondering "Why on Earth do I have all of these bags?!?!" :-)

I still have those old bridesmaids dresses, too and not sure why I still do, but like you probably need to rid myself of them! But to be honest, I truly don't feel like cleaning our closet right now as much as I know it may very well need to be done soon.

This is my first time in this linkup I think! Mine is a really old post (for me) - I think it was only my second or 3rd one ever, but I thought it fit the bill!

THAT is a closet!! Part of me wishes I had that much space, but I know in my heart I would just junk it up. That's what happened to the basement anyway...

Do you have any idea how many times I have looked at those dresses and though "I really need to get rid of those!" At one point, I thought I would donate them to an organization that helps underprivileged girls find dresses for prom. Now, they are so out of style, i would almost feel bad about that!

So glad you linked up and can't wait to read!

Yep! More space=more junk. :-(

OMG this is so fun! I'm totally there for next Tuesday! How do I not know about this? I have a post in draft called "the crap in my purse"....I have been holding it for the day I really don't have anything to write about, but you make it sound kinda cool!

Thanks! It is lots of fun and we would love to have you join us!! (P.S. We shared what was in our purses back in March and it was one of our most popular ones! http://www.the-golden-spoons.com/2014/03/tuesday-ten-my-purse-inside-out.html) 😄

I have gift bags in my closet too! Cassidy thinks it's so strange but I always use them too.
And my closet is about 50% sundresses, which are only worn about 25% of the year. Unless we go to Florida in January.

I have suitcases and bridesmaids dresses in my mine too! And it's not even a walk-in :) Maybe it's time to clean that sucker out once and for all...

I had to chuckle at the bridesmaid dresses (I have I THINK ???? NINE) and the toilet paper. I once dated a guy who told me that he realized that girls eat toilet paper, and that he'll never ask why. I think I may still appreciate that about him! Oh, and our hall closet (the one with the suitcases) still has baby stuff, like pack n play in it. An yeah, time to get on Craig's list and sell it but still. Oh the gift bags. Where else is a person to keep them???
