Kids everywhere are heading back to school. Some have started already and some, like mine, have a few more days of summer to enjoy. Lots of parents are ready for the kids to go back. I am, too, in some ways. However, on the other hand, I am not sure I want summer to end. For today's Tuesday Ten . . . . . .

I also love the structure and routine of the return to school.... But dislike the early mornings, the sometimes frantic pace.... This is the first year I will have to pack lunches for my daughter, and I'm kinda excited about that one :)
It's bittersweet, isn't it? My kids are very excited to go back to school and I am looking forward to a structured routine. I work full time, so we've been getting up and going places every day, so there's no sleeping in at my house!
I always cry at the end of summer, but it is nice to have the school routine back. The problem is that my daughter is still in part time, half day preschool. Not earth-shattering here! And the baby is still on his own schedule for two more years. So it's not a huge difference in my life, but I like to read about how it will be one day!
Wow, I think you summed that up perfectly! I don't even have a child who is school aged, but I think you nailed it. You have described such a mixed bag.
These are exactly, and I mean EXACTLY, what my list would be. If only school was from 10 to 2 with no homework....
I used to be excited about packing lunches. Now I have picky kids and the whole lunch packing thing has just become monotonous! I hope you have fun with it, though! (Can't wait to connect with you at BBC in October! Yay!)
The sleeping in is nice but it makes getting back to the morning routine so incredibly hard! (Just commented on your Ten on Tuesday List! Great minds think alike, huh??) :-)
I remember being exactly where you are now. In some ways those days were great and in other ways I like how it is now. As they say, savor every stage, right?
Thanks Rachel! I think I have more mixed emotions about it this year than I ever have before!
Thanks, Dana! 10-2 with no homework would be great! Heck, I'd just settle for no homework - then, I might be able to cope with the mornings a little more easily!
Those are my exact same pros and cons!! My major con is the early morning mad rush and fussing at kids. Which also turns into afternoon fussing about getting homework done and then fussing to get kids in bed. So I guess overall the early morning and the extra fussing are my major cons. My big pro is that we all get a break from each other and the routine is nice.
