If you were hosting a dinner party and you could invite any 10 people you wanted - rap or fictional; dead or alive - who would you invite?
It's a loaded questions, isn't it? When I saw this idea for a prompt, I thought it would be really fun. However, once I began to actually ponder my list, it became a little overwhelming. After all, the possibilities are endless and I was trying to narrow it down to just 10. It was simply impossible.
So, I'm cheating. Kind of. Only a little.
- A party with deceased relatives - Wouldn't it be great to see all those beloved relatives again who have passed away? I would invite my grandparents, great grandparents. It would be the ultimate family reunion.
- A Girl's Night Out Party - What woman wouldn't want an evening to hang out her best girlfriends?!?!
- A Party With My Blog Besties - I got a taste of this at BlogU in June, but there were still a few I haven't had a chance to meet (including my lovely co-host, Rabia). The only problem with this party would be narrowing the list down to 10!
- A Red Carpet Shindig - It might not be the fine dining they are used to, but I would love to host a celebrity dinner party. Robin Williams could makes us laugh, then we could do a little karaoke with Carrie Underwood, and watch a chick flick with Sandra Bullock.
- Movie Night Party - Instead of the celebrities themselves, perhaps they could come as their alter egos. Appetizers with Iron Man/Tony Stark, Dinner with Leigh Ann Tuoy, and dessert with Willy Wonka, of course!
- History Night - As I've said before, I enjoy history. Imagine sitting around the table with George Washington, JFK, Albert Einstein, and William Shakespeare!
- TV Dinner - Not the kind you microwave, but the kind where I would sit around the table with my favorite TV characters! Sheldon Cooper, Uncle Jesse, and, of course, all of my "Friends."
- Biblical Figures - Can you imagine being able to share a meal with Jesus? Moses? Mary & Joseph? Wow!
- Long Lost Friends- Have you wondered what happened to that one person from high school? Maybe an old friend you lost touch with long ago? That one high school teammate you cannot find on Facebook? It would be like a high school reunion except only with the people you are actually interested in seeing again.
- Fabulous Food - The last dinner party I want to host is one where all of the guests are chefs who bring a dish to share. Bobby Flay could grill something, Paula Deen could make a sinfully fattening side dish, and Buddy Valastro could make an incredible cake for dessert!
How about you? What kind of dinner party would you like to host and who would you invite?

I would love the deceased relatives one, because there are few that have gone before me (especially my grandparents) that I would truly love to spend even one more hour in my lifetime with, because I do truly miss them and you never do know what you have until they are no longer here to do something like this.
Gotta love it when we both cheat on our own linkup!! I'd love to be invited to a couple of those parties you're hosting. Let me know the date and time!! :)
Great idea, Lisa! It was hard to come up with just 10 individuals to invite to an imaginary dinner party - especially when you could invite anyone real or fictional, dead or alive. Love that you cheated and instead listed 10 different dinner parties. LOL Your post could easily be an outline for writing 10 different blog posts - and they'd all be fun to write. :) I love it!
I had a hard time too and kept imagining all the scenarios that you listed! This was a lot of fun and I'm so glad to be able to do this with you guys.
So fun! Ahh I can't even think of ideas right now. I recently had dinner with some family and without my kids and realized it was the first 'dinner party' I'd been to in years!
I would host any kind of dinner party as long as someone else cooked! I would love to have one with my college roommates and their husbands. The girls get together once a year, but it would be so nice to spend an evening with the guys too. I've known some of them for over 20 years!
Ha! I'm hosting a dessert party for a church event next week. Hoping those who come will appreciate my kid decorated home. :-)
Wow! I don't really know where a lot of my college friends are now! That would be quite a reunion!
I was once asked this question many years ago and I just love it...my answers have changed over the years, but I agree with Dana below - someone else would have to cook! I loved your answers!!
Thanks, Emily!
I love your twist on this Lisa! I would be all about the Biblical Figures party... wow and of course the girls' night out dinner party would be fun.
Thanks for sharing.
xoxo
Thanks for reading! :-) It was just to hard to pick only 10 people, so I had to spin it a little.
OOOH great take on it. I wouldn't be able to choose 10 people but love the idea of the blog reunion (and I'd cry if I was not on the list) and the girls night. Perfect answer! We did a FTSF a while back on one person in history to have dinner with and I chose Tucker in the year 2059. Maybe a cheat, but hey. Love!
Only 10 was just too hard! I loved that post about Tucker, too. :-) If I ever do have a girls night or a blogger buddy dinner, you would absolutely be on the list!
I'd love to catch up with long lost friends too, sometimes I wonder where they are and what they're doing!
BRILLIANT idea Lisa!!! I totally want to come to each of these parties you would have... Can I? Please?
I love this idea Lisa! I would love all these parties! What a fabulous way to reconnect, get to know or just have fun with people! Love this!!
I love all of those, Lisa! Especially the blogging friends, the long-lost friends, the girls night out... wait, maybe just all of them. :) Fun idea for a post!
I would take any of those! But, I'm also pretty simple. A night out with friends would be just perfect…and a night to meet all of my blog friends would be awesome!!
Unfortunately, not everyone is on Facebook! There are definitely some old friends I wonder about, too.
YES!!!!! You are invited to them all!!!
Thanks, Sarah!
Thanks! I love all of them too -which is why I couldn't narrow down to a list of just ten people!
I met lots of blog friends at BlogU, but there are still lots I haven't met. So strange to have all these great friends that I have never met in person!
Oh A Party With My Blog Besties would be fun! I can imagine all the shrieking and the laughing ! LOL
I had a small version when i attended BlogU in June, but there are many I still haven't actually met!
