Ask Away Ramblings!

This week, for Ask Away Friday, I am swapping questions with Stacey from This Momma's Ramblings.  Stacey is a stay at home, homeschooling mom.  I have recently "met" her throughou the Ask Away Friday Facebook group and I'm excited to get to know her more by exchanging questions and answers!

Here are my answers to the questions Stacey gave me.  Be sure to head over to her blog and check out her answers to my questions!

1. If you could go back in time and interview any historical figure, who would you choose and why?
I would love to go back and talk to my paternal grandfather who passed away when I was only three or my maternal grandmother who passed away before I was born.  They are not famous people in history, but they are important to me.  I have heard so many stories about them and I would love to sit down with with either of them and create a tangible memory.

2. What is your fondest dream that you have yet to accomplish?
That's a tough one because I'm really not much of a dreamer.  I would love to make a career out of my writing; to actaully get paid for my words.  To date, I have earned less that $100 from my writing.  I have done a little research about getting into freelance work, but have not even dipped my toes in the water yet.  Maybe someday.

3. What dessert will you go for above any else?
Chocolate.  Anything chocolate.

4. What would a pamper day include for you?
Honestly, just some alone time.  I would love to sit in a coffee shop all day reading blogs and writing without being interrupted every five minutes or worrying about all the other things that are not getting done (laundry, cleaning, etc.)  If I could throw in some completely frivilous shopping withtout feeling guilty about the money I was spending, it would be perfect.

5. What is something that blogging has taught you about yourself?
Tamara asked me a similar question before.  I thik it has taught me that I have something to offer the world.  Before blogging, if anyone asked me what talents I have, I wouldn't have had an answer.  I don't sing or play an instrument; I'm not a dancer or an actor; I'm not a great artist.  However, blogging has made me see that my writing is a talent and that I do have something valuable to share with others.

6. How long have you been blogging? What made you start?
My first post was published on February 26, 2010.  I had no idea what I was doing.  I simply had a funny story to tell about one of my kids and wanted a way to share it with others.  I had heard of this thing called a blog and I liked to write, so I googled it, landed on Blogger, and my blog was born.  At first, I posted very sporadically and did no promoting at all.  I didn't know I needed to.  I had no clue what a huge world the blogosphere was!

7. I am a super music junkie...What are the top 5 songs that are rockin out your playlist?
I am a country music lover and the last 5 songs I have added to my iPod are:
Keep it to Yourself - Kacey Musgraves
Bartender - Lady Antebellum
Play it Again - Luke Bryan
Carry On - Olivia Holt from the DisneyNature film Bears (this one was for my girls, but it's a pretty cool song anyway.
Automatic - Miranda Lambert

8. I love summertime weenie roasts in our back yard, complete with glazed donuts and s’mores. What is something that you are looking forward to doing this summer?
I co-host a weekly Tuesday Ten linkup and we just shared out Summer Bucket List.  I'm most looking forward to a much more relaxed schedule and spending time with family and friends.

9. If you were given 1 million dollars, what would you do with it?
I wrote a post about that once, too, for Finish the Sentence Friday.  At the top of my list would be saving for my three daughters' college educations and some home renovations.

10. If you could go back in time and change one thing about your life, good or bad, what would you change and why?
I wouldn't want to change anything from the past that would change my  present circumstances - my family, my kids.   However, if I could change one thing, I would choose not to have psoriasis when I was younger.  I have written before about how having a very visible skin condition has affected the way I see myself when I look in the mirror even though I don't have psoriasis anymore.  I think if I had grown up without it, I would be a much more confident adult in many ways.

I am so with you on talking to your grandparents versus some famous figure in history. I have SO many questions for people in my family with no one that bothered to keep the answers. I would also love some free time too, just to read blogs and write things. Your answers make me feel very close to you because I can relate in so many ways. Even chocolate! Anything chocolate..please.

Country music is refreshing! And totally love chocolates too. I am very chocoholic!
Blogging has taught me so many things! It evolved and changed so much since I started. It inspires me to keep writing and sharing what I have to share. It's a wonderful feeling! :)

I Pizza Face in front of all our friends at the Friday night drop in (8th grade) i went to the bathroom and sobbed... then bolted out as fast as possible. Sick with shame..

I understand to some degree what you went through Lisa. I'm so glad you and me BOTH have different perspectives and we are growing our self acceptance and love more every day of our lives!

During my teen group, one of them talked about how she HATES her teeth. She was born missing a few. Now she has all these braces and brackets in her little tiny mouth... I saw that same shame. It broke my heart! I pray I help her be filled with self love NOW instead of years from now...

Half my comment was missing! HA! My hubs just interrupted me, so who knows what happened!! Go figure- now I have to start all over!!! And it was a LONG ONE!! Grrr....

I hate that you had to grow up with those feelings of self loathing and shame about your psoriasis! I hate that anyone has to grow up feeling those feelings...

I too had those same feelings as I remember so vividly hating what i saw in the mirror! I had tetracycline stains on my front teeth and zits all over my face... it was awful. (I don't know why it's italicized now either! LOL) I'm so glad we both are growing in acceptance and love for ourselves as we get older. It's so important to show our daughters (and my son) that they are fearfully and wonderfully made- and EVERYONE has something they don't like about themselves. We need to learn to embrace those things and honor who we are.

(I totally wrote something completely different in the last comment. Go figure- I tried!!)

I'm with you! A dessert without chocolate is no dessert at all. It must be a "Lisa" thing! I love that Miranda Lambert song! --Lisa

I ate a Berger cookie late last night, speaking of chocolate.
You have so much to add to the world - with blogging and otherwise. And you are absolutely lovely. Glad you started blogging.

I would love to interview my grandparents. One set lived far away and I didn't get to see them much. The other set was much closer, but still gone before I got married. I'd love to have an adult discussion with them and have their wisdom in my life.

Oh I think that it would be neat to go back to visit with grandparents and be able to pick their brains about them, childhood, family backgrounds, and other similar things. I would also love to get into some freelance work, but like you, I just haven't really been able to jump in, yet. Chocolate is amazing on any level! LOL! Alone time would indeed be awesome, without having to stay up til 2 in the morning! Thank you so much for swapping with me! Hope you have a great week!
