My Best Friend {#TuesdayTen Linkup}

For this week's Tuesday Ten, we are honoring our best friends because August 3rd was National Friendship Day.  Friendship Day was created by Hallmark way back in 1919 as a way to encourage people to - you guessed it! - send cards to their friends.  However, by the 40's, the holiday had faded.  Then, in 1998, Winnie the Pooh was named the world's Ambassador of Friendship by the United Nations!  In 2011, the UN officially deemed July 30 as National Friendship Day, although most countries celebrate on the first Sunday of August.

I am, by nature, an introvert and have never been a person who has tons of friends.  Most of the time, I'm just fine with that.  Now, I can honestly say that some of my best friends are other bloggers.  Many I have met in person once thanks to BlogU, but there are still some that I have never met face to face and some who live in other parts of the world entirely.

I know this might sound very cliche, but my hubby is truly my very best friend in the world.  He knows everything about me and we have been through thick and thin together.  There is nobody with whom I have shared more laughter, tears, or joy.  With three daughters to raise and a household to maintain, I am certainly very dependent on him functionally.  However, I also depend on him emotionally.  His is my sounding board, my comfort, and my companion.  I would be so lost without him.

Since today's theme is "Ten Things I Love About My Best Friend" and since tomorrow is actually David's birthday, I am honoring both by sharing with you . . . . . . . .
  1. He is very supportive.
  2. He makes me smile and laugh.
  3. He calms me down when I overreact or stress out.
  4. He is smart and teaches me new things all the time.
  5. He has strengths in areas where I have weakness (and vice versa) which means we offset each other very well.
  6. He thinks I'm beautiful even when I don't.
  7. He eats anything I cook without (much) complaining.
  8. He appreciates all I do and tells me often.
  9. He is a great to snuggle with.
  10. He is a great dad!

Happy Birthday, my love!!  Thanks for being such a great husband and dad.  You are truly my best friend and I hope to spend many more birthdays with you!!!

What a beautiful tribute to your husband and best friend! I love that you and Rabia came up with this topic for Tuesday Ten. It gives us all a chance to say 'Thank You' to the people who are always there for us no matter what - and you did that absolutely beautifully here. :) Thank you.

Hi Lisa! This is my first time here and first time linking up to Tuesday Ten. My husband is verbatim the same! I love it! I knew so many other wives could relate. I, too, don't have too many friends in real life. I guess life takes a toll. We have families and children and we're not constantly out there like we were in high school or college making friends. I think this is a normal cycle of life. Though I hear many moms find great friends that are more into things they are in as time goes on as you have and I'm finding as well. Your hubby sounds like such a great man. This was a great topic for me to venture out. So glad I was apart of the linkup today. :)

Happy birthday to your husband Lisa! I love this week's topic as always. And I really think it's great that your husband is your bestfriend too. That would most likely help with the relationship. My husband also calms me down when I think too much or I think too ahead of the game. LOL

Aww! Happy Birthday to him! I have never really had a best friend, and like you said, some of my best friends live in my computer! Luckily I've been meeting more and more of them lately.

Happy birthday to David! And because I'm a day late, it's TODAY! I hope you are not online and will read this tomorrow. Matt is my best friend too, and he's probably my first. I'm not a bff kinda girl, but I feel blessed to have some really great friends - and that includes you. xoxo

SO SWEET! Happy birthday! Gosh my favorite is that he'll eat anything you make for him with very little complaining. My husband wants to know the ingredients, how I cooked it, and pokes around before eating my food. LOL I've gotten used to it because he's picky-fine. Your husband rocks!

I know! I'm totally jealous of your blogger meet ups, but glad I got to meet so many at BlogU!

Aw, thanks, Dana!! XOXO back at ya!

Ha! I guess I can thank his mom of that - she had to cook for 5 kids and you ate whatever she put on the table to you went hungry! He does offer constructive criticism, sometimes, but he eats it anyway!
