Today is National Tourist Appreciation Day! Since summer vacation is right around the corner, too, and many people may be traveling, Rabia and I decided it would be a good Tuesday to share tourist attractions we have seen or would like to see in the future.
I didn't do much traveling before I met David, but since we got married I have seen quite a few places. However, there are still plenty of places I would like to see, too. I really got the travel bug after our trip to Paris in December 2012 (you can read about that HERE and HERE), so I'm always ready to explore somewhere new.
Five Tourist Attractions I Have Seen
1. The Eiffel Tower - As I mentioned, I was lucky enough to go to Paris (on a business trip) with David in December 2012 and I fell in love with the city and with traveling. (I was already in love with him!) We saw the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Arc de Triumph, Notre Dame, and much more!
2. The Statue of Liberty - I first went to NYC with a college group almost twenty years ago (Yikes!). David and I went again close to ten years ago. I went up in the Statue on that first trip. Between the two, I have also been to the top of the Empire State Building, to a Broadway show, to Fifth Avenue, and Times Square.
3. Vegas - I was just in Las Vegas last week (on a business trip)! It was my first time there and I don't really want to go back anytime soon! :-)
4. Chicago Cloud Gate, or as some people like to call it, "The Bean." A few years ago, David and I took a long weekend getaway (that turned into a business trip) to Chicago. We went to Navy Pier, shopped on Michigan Avenue (of course!), and walked through Millennium Park by the sculpture.

5. The Mall of America - Last October, I went to Bloggy Boot Camp in Minneapolis. David went along and made it a business trip, but we did squeeze in some time to cruise the biggest mall in the country!
Five Places Tourist Attractions I Would Like To See
1. Big Ben - Going to Paris made me want to see more of Europe. I would love to go to London and see Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, and London Bridge.
2. The Grand Canyon - We thought about heading out to the Grand Canyon while we were in Vegas, but just didn't take the time. I wish we had. Next time, maybe!
3. The Colosseum - I would love to go to Rome and visit the Colosseum, the Sistine Chapel, and so many more pieces of history.
4. The Sydney Opera House or the Great Barrier Reef - Yeah, really I just want to go to Australia and those are two things I would make sure to see when I was there.
5. Hawaii - Can an entire state/group of islands count as a tourist attraction? I would love to go to Hawaii and experience the beaches and the beauty.
What tourist attractions have you seen and which ones are on your bucket list?? Tell me in the comments or write your own post and link up!
We have also created a FB group! If you would like to join the group, let me know! (You must have linked up with us at least once to join.)

I have taken for granted seeing the Empire State Building, the Statute of Liberty and even the Twin Towers before 9/11, so many times because I have lived in NY all my life, but like you I would love to see the state of Hawaii hopefully in the future, because my parents went when I was a kid and the pictures were absolutely gorgeous. Someday fingers crossed :)
The only one on your list that I have visited is the Statue of Liberty! Guess I have lots more traveling to do!
I've also seen the Statue of Liberty and the Eiffel Tower. I've also been to Hawaii, which was awesome. I'd still like to see The Bean!
Yup the Grand Canyon is on my list.....And I have only seen the Statue of Liberty but that was in High school and I believe I would get different things out of it now.
Oh Hawaii for sure. It's such a long trip from the East Coast. I would love to go to London, Ireland, and France. So jealous you go to see Paris, that's number one on my list.
We'll go together!! :-) It is easy to take things for granted when you live close.
Ha! There is so mud I want to see still that I sometimes for get to appreciate what I have already experienced.
I so want to go to Hawaii. You'll get to The Bean someday, I'm sure!
Yeah, I think I would definitely have a different perspective now. Even when we went to Paris, I had a much greater appreciation for the history of it all than I would have when I was younger, I'm sure.
Paris was incredible. The only problem is that is really made me want to travel more! :-)
I've been to Vegas, Chicago and NYC but the others are all on my list too. I really want to see the Grand Canyon and Niagra Falls.
I have some of the same places on my list....and some of the ones you mentioned SHOULD have been on there....Grand Canyon and the Coliseum for starters.
What?! It is national tourist appreciate day!? I am a GREAT tourist & I don't feel appreciated today. ;)
Great lists. Hawaii is on mine to-do so far, too. Remind me to tell you a story some time about when I backpacked down in to the Grand Canyon to camp and my brother had to be medi-vaced out. I am still recovering emotionally but the Canyon is gorgeous.
I'm not even good simmer, so I'm not sure if I actually could do the GBR, but I would like to try!
Paris is the only place I have been outside the US. I got to tag along on a business trip my hubby took. I hope to go back and see more of Europe with my kids.
There is something about those natural places that is so incredible and amazing. I hope to see them someday!
I've been thinking the same thing as I read everyone else's list today! :-)
Yikes!! And I though going out on the skywalk would be scary! That definitely sounds like quite a story.
I've visited 6 of the places on your list. I've also been to Chicago, but I didn't get the chance to see the Bean. When I studied for a semester in London, I had the opportunity to travel all around Europe. It was amazing. My recent trip to Nicaragua was life-changing. I'd like to go to Alaska and Scandavia next. And maybe Africa too. I love to travel!
I've been to anything in NYC, the bean in Chicago, Vegas, the Mall of America (twice!), all the stuff in DC and Philly, Niagara...hmm... what's next??
I love all of your choices! I would love to explore Europe and see all the historical places...I have always been fascinated by the castles and churches.
I LOVE Hawaii. I've been there just twice, but it was AMAZING. Like the advertisements and hooplah is all spot-on. I would love to see the "bean" in Chicago - I've seen that in videos and just love it. So cool. Never been to the Mall of America, or Sydney, but Australia is on my list!
