Songs of Motherhood

I love music, so I was completely on boards when Rabia suggested Songs That Are Stuck In Your Head for a Tuesday Ten topic.  Then, I remembered that I had already done a similar post when I shared the Ten Most Played Songs on My iPod.  I considered updating it since that was over a year ago, but really wanted to do something a little different.  When I stumbled across this card on Facebook, I got and idea.

It got me thinking about what songs best describe parenting and motherhood.  I came up with a list of ten songs that could easily be applied to the trials and tribulations of parenting.  Some are serious; some are meant to be funny.  However, I think if you are a mom, you can relate to them all!  So, here's my list of the Top Ten Songs of Motherhood:

1.  God Gave Me You - Blake Shelton -Regardless of religion, moms all agree that our children are blessing, gifts.  Sometimes we lose sight of it when kids throw a temper tantrum in the middle of the grocery store aisle or when they give us a nasty stomach bug, but, deep down, we know this - always.

2.  If I Had a Million Dollars - Barenaked Ladies - Because kids are expensive!!

3.  Smile - Uncle Kracker - He calls himself "Uncle," but he actually wrote this for his daughter.  Our kids drive us crazy sometimes, but they also make us smile.

4.  A Whole New World - from Aladdin - Every stage of parenting from having a newborn to the terrible two's to have a teen to becoming an "empty nester" can feel like a whole new world - over and over again.

5.  Never Grow Up  - Taylor Swift - If you're like me, you look forward to watching your children grow and seeing what/who they become.  However, there is also this piece of my heart that wishes they would stay little so I could protect them forever.

6.  I'm Only Sleeping - The Beatles - I just recently found this one and I'm sure that motherhood was the last thing on John Lennon's mind when he wrote it, but it could not be more perfect for moms.  Seriously. Just watch the lyrics.

7.  Let It Go  - Idina Menzel from Frozen-  Yes, I went there!!  Since the movie Frozen, this phrase has become quite the mommy mantra for a lot of us!

8.  Bad Day - Daniel Powter - Even moms have bad days from time to time, right?

9. My Wish - Rascal Flatts -  "My Wish for you is that this life becomes all that you want it to; your dreams stay big and your worries stay small; you never need to carry more that you can hold . . . . . . I hope you know somebody loves you."  Amen!

10.  I Hope You Dance - LeAnn Womack - Similar to My Wish, this one represents all the hope and dreams we have for our children.

**BONUS**  Of course I had to include this one!!  Mommy's in Time Out!!  (If you haven't seen it before, I re-wrote the Lyrics to Maroon 5's Payphone and my blog friend, Stephanie, performed it for her Parentz Bop series.)

What would be on your list of theme songs for motherhood??
